Total eclipse

It was a tiring evening for me…I went home late…wanting to sleep for one whole day.  Suddenly, my younger brother asked me to watch a movie. He wanted me to help him do his movie report. “What are we going to watch?” I asked “TWILIGHT ECLIPSE daw sabi ng teacher ko” he answered. I even felt groggier hearing the title.

Actually, I’ve never really been a fan of twilight. But I was forced to watch it somehow. As I was watching the film, I couldn’t help but to critique.

Some of my observations were as follows:

First of all, I couldn’t really see the chemistry between Bella and Jacob. Nor I liked the conversations of Edward and Bella, perhaps because the lines are boring for me. Nevertheless, I’m definitely for their team up.

But the most exciting part of this movie for me was the action part, specifically the clash of Edward and Victoria (my favorite character in the movie) however; there should be more of it than boring dialogues.

In summary, it was quite a neutral movie. Not much of a nonsense film but basically not much of a total eclipse. However, my brother’s report was at stake so I didn’t bother to give him my pessimistic view of the film.

After the film, my eyes shut down – I fell asleep.

Lights...camera...action!

In the light of showcasing what they've got when it comes to film production and documentary making, the School of Arts and Sciences of the University of the Assumption held their 6th short film festival where films made by their AB Communication students were shown.
Among the said films, ERPATS, an entry showcasing a life of a college student who is in search for his father got the most applause. This is probably because of its creative mixture of comedy, drama, romance and suspense. Being a member of the audience, I could say that it's not the typical comedy film with predictable scenes. Apart from that, the jokes are new and are really funny. Over all, it is not boring.
However, my attention went to KUBO, a horror film. It's a story about friendship, love and betrayal which led to a horrifying dispute. The effects are really engrossing. I myself don't believe in ghosts but I was really moved by the scenes and scared during the time it was being played. In the end, I voted for it. I hope it will win.

The occasion was graced by three jurors, one of them was Direk Dante Brillante Mendoza who won the Best director for his film, LOLA in the prestigious Cannes filmfest.
After some picture taking with him, we went home talking about the films we've watched, excited to do our own.

CRAMMING

I never really thought that i would ever be in a situation in which I have to skip my breakfast and even lunch sometimes all because of the loads that my studies bring me. I tried to describe what's going on with me and one word suddenly popped up in my mind -- CRAMMING.

Yes, cramming has been my regular customer since I went to college. From the moment I wake up until the time that I'm about to sleep, it never fails to visit me. although its abstract, I can always feel its presence everyday and everynight. and I believe it happens to everyone.

Who could make an assignment when the temptation of sleeping is there beside you? who could read a chapter of a very thick book when Waka-Waka is being played over the radio and you couldn't help listening to it? and who could review for a quiz when the comments on their facebook accounts excite them to log in? all these things lead to cramming which can therefore put a bag of stress on us. However, as they say, we can't get away from it. Whether you're a student, employee, store owner, driver, teacher etc., we encounter it!

probably, the best thing to do is to enjoy it though quite difficult..heheh..
